Koichi Wakui san is a photographer and filmmaker specialising in documentary films of musical performers. He has filmed and produced twenty performances in capsule A606 from a wide variety of musicians.
With the recent notice that capsule residents must leave by the end of April 2021, it seems that the cycle is now complete. The last of the films sees a lone dancer in the empty capsule, dancing to ABBA’s “Dancing Queen” playing on the Sony reel-to-reel, with flashbacks to past performances in the capsule. The end of an era.
